Overview

A Master Plan is a blueprint for the City's future. Drafting a new plan will require the collaborative work of a team of specialized consultants, city staff, and the dedication of the public at large to develop a shared understanding of the City's collective values and aspirations for the future.

Our current Master Plan was adopted in 2001 along with subsequent amendments. Now is the time for a comprehensive update.

Fall 2016 Kickoff

This fall, the City Planning Division kicked off the new Master Planning process with three public meetings and an online survey. We invited all interested community members and leaders to join us at the public meetings for an initial overview of the Master Planning Process and to begin exploring ideas that will guide this endeavor.

The three meetings were held at different locations throughout the City (City Hall, the Bethune Center, and P.S. 28).

During these meetings, participants were asked about their priorities and concerns about Jersey City and what types of information they wanted the Master Plan to include. The following graphic shows how participants responded when asked what their priorities are for Jersey City.
