Jersey City Hosts Celebratory Parade for Saint Peter’s University Basketball Team Following Historic Achievements in NCAA Tournament

What: Mayor Steven M. Fulop joins Saint Peter’s University alongside local officials, state dignitaries, and the Jersey City community to celebrate the unprecedented run Saint Peter’s University’s Men’s Basketball Team achieved during March Madness, putting the University and Jersey City on the map.

The celebratory parade will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022. The parade will start from the Statue of Abraham Lincoln and proceed straight down John F. Kennedy Boulevard. The parade will end in front of Saint Peter’s University where a large rally will take place in front of the school.

Press Planning

Press Staging: A secure area with risers will be blocked off in front of the stage outside of Saint Peter’s University along JFK Boulevard. The street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Press with All Access Passes will be able to rove the parade route and return to the riser for the rally. A mult box will be set up for sound.

Press Passes: To ensure access, all media must RSVP to [email protected] by 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 31.

Kim Wallace-Scalcione and SPU’s Sarah Malinowski Ferrary/Angeline Boyer will be distributing All Access Press Passes on Friday at the designated press staging area from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Parking: Press parking will be reserved on Montgomery Street going eastbound between JFK Boulevard and West Side Avenue. JCPD officers will be on site to assist.

Interviews: Mayor Fulop will MC the pep rally. Local and state dignitaries will be invited to speak. Saint Peter’s University school officials, coaches, and players from the men’s basketball team will also take the stage.
