WOMEN, INFANTS & CHILDREN (WIC)
The WIC program safeguards the health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age five. The program strives to provide nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, breastfeeding know-how, and referrals to health care.
WIC is a USDA program piloted in 1972 to address growing concerns over malnutrition among low-income mothers and young children.
